Question

I cannot do payroll because I am getting an exclamation on each employee, stating I am missing information but everything seems completed.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community, Welding.

QuickBooks only puts an exclamation point on employee profiles with missing information. Then, when you access their profiles, you will see which section has the exclamation point, which is the one with the missing details, as shown in the screenshot. Let's work together to check this out.

If you don't see a section with an exclamation point, you can do the browser troubleshooting steps to check if you're experiencing random browser issues or a full cache. A cache is an auxiliary memory that temporarily stores internet files of the web pages you visited, so they will quickly load up when you visit them again. However, a full one may cause display issues or causes QuickBooks to behave differently.

We can start troubleshooting by signing in to QuickBooks using a private or incognito browser. Private browsing disables extensions and stops the cache from saving your browsing history.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox and Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Shift + ⌘ + N

If there's no exclamation point while browsing privately, you'll want to go back to regular browsing and clear the cache. However, if it's the same thing, you'll want to use a different browser to isolate the case.

On the other hand, you may also want to check about paying employees using direct deposit or inviting them to create a QuickBooks Workforce account so they can view their pay stubs and W-2s online.

I'm just right here if you need more help managing your employee's profile. Have a good one!
