Question

I changed from a LLC to a C-corp, but have still been running payroll as an LLC. How would I go about amending my payroll taxes to the new C-corp EIN?

It's good to see you here in the Community, @cameron-rangevie.

I'm here to help make sure you can amend your payroll stubs and payroll taxes to reflect your new C-corp EIN.

First off, you'll want to change the EIN on your company file so the new C-corp EIN will reflect on your tax forms and payroll checks moving forward. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Company menu, then click the edit icon from the Company name section.
  4. Enter your new EIN in the field.
  5. Click Save, and Done.

After updating the EIN, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. Since you've already processed the payroll, our support team will help you void the paystubs so you can re-run payroll to reflect your new C-corp EIN. To reach them, you can follow the steps below:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online account, click the Help button.
  2. In the QuickBooks Assistance chatbox, select Talk to a human and choose I still need a human.
  3. Select Contact Us.

On the other hand, you'll have to reach out to your tax agency or the IRS on amending your payroll taxes. You can also consult with them on whether or not you need to submit separate W-2s for the new and the old EIN.
