Question

I converted to QB Online from Desktop Services in May. Some employee payroll didn't convert

I was forced to move from my desktop application to the online application on June 1, 2023 since QB was no longer going to support the desktop version of payroll.  When I preview my employees 2023 W2s, not all information from the desktop application is being factored in.  Some employees do have information that converted correctly, and I've reconciled everything from the previous version.  What do I need to do to get correct W2s?

When you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online (QBO), you may notice differences in the appearance of your financial records, @raiderguy10. Don’t worry, I'll help you understand how your books were moved.

During the conversion process, certain payroll information may not transfer to QBO. This includes the previous year's payroll history, the breakdown of payroll items, employee schedules, wages, year-to-date balances, and other relevant information. Consequently, you will need to manually input any employee information that hasn't been transferred.

You can read this article under the Features section for more details: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Once your entries are available in QBO, you can run through the resources from this article to get started and track your entries accordingly: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.

If you have follow-up questions while handling your data in QuickBooks, please let me know by leaving a comment below. I'm always here to help.
