Question

I filed the w-2 electronically last year and I don 't see a file to submit this year

I have the basic online payroll service, I viewed and printed both w-2 and W-3 and now I do not see the file to submit to electronically.

I do not have direct option to file and pay taxes.  Am I missing anything?  Is there a phone number I can call?

Thank you,

Debbie

Hello, @dhodgs.

Let me share some insights so you can view the W2 form that you filed last year.

I recommend visiting the Resources section, is you'll be able to find the said form from there. You can then have the option to print the current year or one year prior.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Taxes menu, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Select Filings. Then, choose Resources and W-2s
  3. Review the list of employees who opted for a printed copy.
  4. If your automated taxes and forms setting is Off, you can review your Form W-2 print setting. Then, choose Change setting to change the paper type if needed.
  5.  Select View or Manage on the copy you need:
  • W-3 Summary Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statements
  • W-2, Copies B, C & 2 (employee)
  • W-2, Copies A & D (employer)

However, if you're unable to get a copy or don't have the option, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They're the best support group for such inquiries as they can request account information. This way, they can then assist you in getting a copy of the w-3 transmittal or process it on your behalf.

If you need steps to run several payroll reports you can use to see employee info, wages, taxes, and deductions, you can read this article: Run payroll reports.

You're always welcome to post again if you have additional questions about getting a W-2 within the program. Take care!
