I get a payment date error when I try to e-pay my NJ taxes. Why can't I use the e-pay option to pay taxes?

From the Payroll Tax Center, an action needed is to pay NJ payroll taxes. They are due on 1/30/2023. When I click e-pay, a "payment date" error comes up in red above the payment date drop down menu. Even if I change the dates, I still receive the payment date error and I can not e-pay. I can't pay any of my other payroll taxes either because the system states "Incomplete tax payment. Before paying another tax payment, finish or cancel your incomplete payment.  "

Let's check the status of your payroll tax payments submitted through QuickBooks Online Payroll, vadrafting. From here, you'll see if there's pending payment.

 

You'll know if the tax payment is paid electronically as it’ll show E-payment or E-pay in the Pay method column. 

 

  1. Go to Taxes, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Select Payments.
  3. Click Payment history.

 

If there's no unapproved tax payment in the system, you can pay outside the system direct to the agency. You may also contact our QuickBooks Online Payroll Team so they can check the status of the NJ e-pay. And, verify if there is no incomplete information for the state.

I am having the same exact issue and as usual Intuit can’t fix it.

Since the issue persists on your end, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Payroll Support Team for assistance. They have tools to check further into your account in a safe environment and to fix this issue with your tax payments.

  1. Go to Help (?), then click Contact Us.
  2. Please enter your question and select Let's talk.
  3. Review and Select from the following: Ask the community, Have us call you, or Chat with us.
