Question

I have put all the info in W-4 section and it says I don't have the right city, state, and zip when in fact it is correct. It won't except the information. Help?

Hi there,

I'm glad to help enter the country address in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Let’s run some basic troubleshooting steps to get past the error. This is the initial action to perform when you experience unusual behavior in QBO. Before doing so, visit the USPS website and double-check the address. We’ll have to make sure that the information matches the one listed on the site.

If it’s the right one, access QBO using incognito or private window. This is to check if the browser’s cache is preventing you from entering the employee’s address.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N

Afterward, try to update the zip code again. If it works, let's clear your regular browser's cache and close it entirely. This will refresh your browser settings. You can also try using a different browser when entering your business zip code. You can also try using a different browser as an alternative.

You can use the USPS Lookup Tool. From there, you can search for a zipcode of a given street address and city within the given zip code. Also, you may need this article to learn more about managing your business details:

That should keep you going today. Keep me posted if you have other concerns about your company's zip code or anything related to QuickBooks. Wishing you all the best!
