Question

I'm already using intuit online payroll. I just set up quickbooks online and accidentally typed a different business name. How can I merge them?

Hi there, brendan11.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details with the updated workflow of our QuickBooks payroll. Then, to ensure you'll be routed to the right support team to assist you further on this matter.

We move users from IOP to QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP) to streamline our focus on payroll products. The QuickBooks platform offers more modern payroll plans with more features and better ongoing development support. If you have not yet set up payroll accounts in QuickBooks, Intuit will set them up for you the first time you import data into QuickBooks. You'll have to enter the account names you prefer at the Export Preferences page.

However, since you have already set up the data in QuickBooks Online, you may want to ensure that the accounts from your QuickBooks Chart of Accounts are mapped correctly. You can open this article to see further details: Setup export of IOP data to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Then, when updating your business name, address, tax info, and more in your online payroll service, you'll have to contact our payroll support. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment which we're unable to do it here in the Community. You may be required to submit additional documents for these updates so they can make any necessary changes as soon as possible.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to further guide you in effectively managing your payroll transactions: Help guide for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics on how payroll works in QBOP.

Don't hesitate to hit that Reply button if you have additional questions about the features in QBOP. I'll be around to help you some more.
