Question

I missed the estimated quarterly deadline by one day. How can I make it populate the form for the missed quarter and not the next one?

I would like to pay September 2024 and it is only showing me what to pay for January 2025 for example.

I can discuss how QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) populates the federal estimated quarterly tax payment form, junger. Allow me to add the details here, including how you can pay your taxes accordingly.

Please know that QBSE will only show the estimated quarterly taxes you owe to the federal government for the current period. The option to populate the form for the missed tax payments is unavailable. Therefore, you'll want to make a late payment directly to the Internal Revenue Service. You can visit this page for guidance: Penalties | Internal Revenue Service.

After that, document it in QBSE to keep your record accurate. If you use an account not connected to online banking when paying, proceed to these steps:

  1. Head to Transactions, then Add transaction.
  2. In the description field, key in"(Date and fiscal year) quarterly federal tax payment."
  3. Provide the amount and the date of the payment.
  4. Choose Select a category, then select Taxes and Estimated Taxes.
  5. Hit Save.

Otherwise, you can wait until the transaction downloads and categorize it as a tax payment.
