Question

I need to back out Roth 401K deductions and add back as regular 401K so the taxes are corrected on 4 previous payrolls. How do I do that in QBO?

There are two ways to manage your Roth 401K, Christy. Let me show you how to delete or edit deductions in your payroll.

The Roth 401k deductions can be edited or deleted in payroll. I suggest we edit the 401k to make it a regular deduction or delete it altogether.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll
  2. Select Employees
  3. Choose the employee.
  4. From Deductions and Contributions, select Start or Edit
  5. Edit the information as needed or select the Trash Bin icon next to the deduction you want to remove.
  6. Select Save and Close

When correcting your previous payrolls, it would be best to contact our payroll support. They have the necessary tools to guide you through the process.
