Question

I need to recreate an old quarterly 941 form that was not filed. I don't know why it was not filed and I cannot find it in the archives.

Hi, @droth2. I'm here to help.

Let me share some information and route you to the right support groups that can help you determine whether you filed your previous quarterly 941 Form and what to do next, as it is vital to remain compliant to tax laws and regulations set by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

First, if you haven't filed your tax return yet, the IRS may send you a letter requesting that you do so. If you have yet to receive a letter otherwise, I suggest contacting the IRS to clarify this doubt about the uncertainty of having filed your 941 Form. If in the case that you've already filed, you can also request a copy. You can browse the IRS' contact details through this website: Instructions for Form 941.

Next, if you've filed your 941 Form within QuickBooks Online (QBO), it normally appears under Archived forms and filings. If you can't find it in the archives, I recommend contacting our support team within your QBO account. They have the tools and live access to offer you the support you need. Here's how:

 1. In your QuickBooks Online company, go to Help (?).
 2. Select either of these tabs:

  • Assistant tab and type Talk to a human.
  • Search tab and click on Contact us to connect with a support expert.

 3. Choose how you want to reach us (phone or chat).

I'm also adding this article in case you need to change or add pay types to your employees: Add or change pay types.

We're always here in the Community should you need further assistance preparing your payroll tax forms in QBO. Take care.
