Question

I ran a payroll (just me) on Friday, 8/11. My system defaults to 31 Aug and I submitted the payroll without changing the paydate. Any way to edit the date?

Modifying a submitted paycheck in QuickBooks Online Payroll depends on your processing time and payroll service, bvanmook. I’m here to discuss and ensure you’ll be paid accurately and on time.

If you run payroll through a paper check, you can delete it to get the date updated. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Payroll menu, then choose Employees.
  2. Select the Paycheck list.
  3. Click the paycheck, then press Delete.
  4. Hit Yes and Save when finished.

After completing the task, configure the payroll schedule in your profile to ensure accurate pay frequency and period. Then, recreate the paycheck. This will reflect the appropriate pay date in your system.

On the other hand, if you’re using a direct deposit method, you’ll want to contact our Payroll Support team to help change the date. Bear in mind that you can only edit, cancel, or void a paycheck processed electronically before 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, based on your funding time.

You can check our support hours so you’ll receive responses quickly. Then, you can follow the steps below to connect with us:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Help (?) menu.
  3. Select the Search tab, then click Contact Us.
  4. Enter your brief concern in the field.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Click the Chat or Callback option.

The program also offers a way to view your paycheck details, time off balances, and total pay for the year. If you've been invited to QuickBooks Workforce, you can use this reference to navigate it: Access pay stubs, time off, and year-to-date pay in QuickBooks Workforce.
