Hello, StephNav.

I'd be glad to share some steps to help with your situation.

If you are using Intuit Online Payroll, the step by step instructions are included in this article: Export Intuit Online Payroll transactions to QuickBooks for Windows or Mac (IIF).

For QuickBooks Online Standalone Payroll, you can go to the Payroll settings page and set up the export preferences.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear > Payroll Settings.
  2. In the Export section, click the Pencil icon on the right to edit.
  3. From the Export preferences page, choose QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Then, click Continue
  4. Map and review the accounts, and hit Done

Once done, you can either go to the Payroll settings or open the Paycheck list page to export the file to your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

To export from the Paycheck list page, you can follow these steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Payroll > Overview.
  2. Click the View paycheck list link.
  3. Put a check mark on the paychecks you want to export.
  4. Select the Export to Accounting button. This will download an IIF file, which you can import to your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I've got this sample screenshot for a visual guide:

For exporting the data in the payroll settings, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear > Payroll settings.
  2. In the Export section, click the Export transactions link.

After exporting the data, you can now import the downloaded IIF file into QuickBooks for Mac. Before doing so, please make sure to create a back up copy of your company file.

Then, follow these steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, go to the File menu.
  2. Select Import.
  3. Click From IIF Files, choose the downloaded IIF file.

For reference on the steps above, you can read this article: Export into QuickBooks Online or Desktop from Core, Premium, or Elite Standalone Payroll.

If you have any follow-up questions regarding the export process or you need help with other task, please let me know in your reply below. I'd be happy to provide the steps. Enjoy your weekend!
