Question

I set up a bogus employee in payroll so that I could go through the invitation to help them fill out their forms. I tried to delete the account and I can't?

Glad to see you here in the Community, Barton. Let me share my insights about deleting an employee in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll.

If you haven't issued a paycheck for the bogus employee you set up, we can delete their profile from your payroll product. Otherwise, their info will remain in your QBO records.

However, if you haven't created a paycheck yet and you're still unable to remove them, we can perform some basic troubleshooting steps to rule out the possibility of a browser issue.

Sometimes, accumulated cache from the browser may cause the system to misbehave. To access QBO with a fresh start, let's either delete the browser cache and Intuit-specific cookies or log in to a private browser. Here are some of the keyboard shortcuts we can use:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

Moreover, let's check if your operating system meets the minimum requirements to have a better experience when using QBO.

If you want to view relevant information about your business and employees, we can run payroll reports in QBO. It gives you detailed info on your employee's payroll, a comprehensive summary of deductions and taxes, and other valuable insights about payroll.

Let me know in the comments below if you have additional questions about managing employees in QBO Payroll. The Community is always open to accommodate you. Have a great day!
