It would be my pleasure to help you add yourself on a weekly payroll to receive a check, @urnessmju-gmail-.

An S corps needs payroll because the IRS needs to have a way to collect taxes from the business. Therefore, you need to pay yourself a salary if you own a corporation and are engaged in its day-to-day operations.

To do this, set up yourself as an employee in QuickBooks. For detailed steps, please visit this article: Add a new employee to your payroll.

Then, proceed in creating a schedule to pay yourself. Here's how:

  1. Choose the Payroll menu, and select the Employees tab.
  2. Click your name among lists.
  3. Select Edit employee.
  4. Select the How often do you pay [employee]? ▼ dropdown menu. Then select the weekly pay schedule.
  5. Once done, click Done.

For more insights, you may check out this article: Set up and manage payroll schedules.

In addition, I've attached some resources to help you create a paycheck and how to pay and file federal and state taxes:

This only answers part of the question. When setting this up, we're also faced with the question "what is your company type" -- do we choose Limited liability company or limited liability corporation?
