I am working on adding ID Workforce Dev. Fund tax percentage and when I enter the rate I get a red x and the box around the rate turns red.   Can someone help me with this?

Hello, Leslie.

I'd like to help you out in fixing the red box on the rate field and ensure you'll be able to enter the ID Workforce Dev. Fund tax.

QuickBooks Desktop usually autocorrects the rates, depending if you entered a percentage or a decimal format. How did you enter the rate on the tax setup window?

I'd appreciate if you could give more details about the red box. You can also post a screenshot, too. This way, I'll be able to come up with the best solution to help you out.

In the meantime, let's do the following steps to resolve the issue.

This might be just an odd behavior on the tax setup window. You can close and re-open the window again. Alternatively, close and re-open QuickBooks and re-enter the rate.

You'll also want to ensure that your payroll tax tables are updated to the latest release. Here's how:

  1. Open the Employees menu, then select Get Payroll Updates.
  2. Check the Download Entire Update box.
  3. Proceed with Download Latest Update.

You can also use the Verify and Rebuild utility tool to fix the red box error.

After fixing the issue, do you need to check on your employees' payroll data? You can run a summary report to get the information you need. Check out this article for a guide on how to use it: Create a payroll summary report.

You're more than welcome to add any other concerns you might have regarding your taxes. I can also help you out if you need a hand in recording transactions or managing your lists.
