Question

If a paycheck that was printed for distribution on 12/31/21 was never received and had to be reprinted in 2022, are the payroll taxes included in 2021 or 2022?

Hi there, BRMEYERS50.

If the date of the reprinted paycheck is still 12/31/21, the taxes belongs to 2021. However, if it's already in 2022, the taxes will be reported this year.

QuickBooks follows the Doctrine of Constructive Receipt. Therefore, taxes are included in the year in which the paycheck date falls based on your record. You can check the Tax Guide for Small Businesses and find (Ctrl+F or Command-F) "Constructive Receipt" for more details about the doctrine.
