Question

If I am paying someone per service, do I have to open payroll or can I treat them as a 1099?

I can show you how we keep track employee and contractor transactions, movingwithmindy-.

As an employer you have more control over an employee. This is because independent contractors like 1099 contractors, vendors, and self-employed workers are in business for themselves.

If you need more help in deciding how you'll want to record them, you can check out this link about the difference between employees and independent contractors. You can also reach out to the IRS to verify if you need to record the client as an employee or contractor so that your taxes are setup in our system correctly.

Once you're decided on how to track them, you can check out these link on how to set them up in QuickBooks Online:

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if you have any other questions. Have a lovely day!
