The instructions do NOT tell us how to set up Paid Time Off accrual, where the employee gets 1 hour of PTO for every 40 hours worked!  Where do we tell it to accrue? There are no boxes for this on Online Payroll!!!  The instruction seem only to pertain to giving all employees 40 hours right from the beginning and we certainly cannot afford to do that.

We appreciate you for raising your concern here, @1902.

Let me share the steps on how to set up Paid Time Off (PTO) correctly so it will accrue according to when you want it.

You can tell when and where PTO will accrue depending on how you set it up. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll tab. Select the Employees option.
  2. Pick an employee you want to apply for a PTO and click it.
  3. From the employee's people. Scroll down, and click the Edit icon on the right side of Pay Types.
  4. Scroll down again and go to Time Off pay policies.
  5. Tap the Paid time off dropdown. Select Add new paid time policy.
  6. Enter a Description.
  7. Select Hours are accrued. This will be the time when PTO will be accrued. There are 5 options for this, you can refer to the image below:
  8. Then, enter Hours per year and Maximum allowed.
  9. Once done, click Save.

Repeat this to all employees who qualified for this PTO.
