How do I import ADP 1099 contractor payments into QBO? If I add as an expense/contractor, where is the match so I do not throw off my register? The payroll allocation by expense line item is done via a JE

I have the information to help match existing entries to your imported ADP 1099 contractor payments, AcctAble. Allow me to share it here for your guidance.

In QuickBooks Online, you can import your ADP 1099 contractor payments into your bank feeds and match them with the existing journal entries to prevent duplicates. The system will suggest a category based on how you categorize similar financial dealings and proposes matching transactions if there are any. You can select Add if it's the appropriate category or Match if it's the correct matching transaction.

Since you have entered journal entries for the payroll allocation, you'll want to match them to the imported 1099 payments. Look for the record manually if the suggested one is incorrect or if nothing was recognized.

Here's how:

  1. Head to Transactions, then Bank transactions
  2. Locate the imported entry and review the Categorize or Match column from the For review tab.
  3. Select the contractor payment to expand the view and check the Suggested matches to ensure accuracy. You can pick Find other matches if inaccurate or click Match at the top if nothing is suggested.
  4. Once in the Find other matches window, pick the journal entry and hit Match.

For more details, refer to this article: Match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, there are available 1099 reports that can be generated to review who needs 1099s, payment amounts, and other related information. You might want to scan this material to learn more about them: Create 1099 reports in QuickBooks.

Kindly let me know if there's anything you need guidance with when importing and dealing with 1099 payments in QuickBooks Online. I'll be around to provide assistance anytime you need a hand.
