Question

Import time sheets form a third party into QuickBooks Online.

Hello, I work at a company that has a time sheet program that produces a IIF file for time sheet imports into QuickBooks Desktop.

We would like to know how to do this in QuickBooks Online. Other articles i have read say i need an app or third party tool to do a time sheet import.

How can we create a time sheet import file and how do we import it?

Hello, ePNSecure.

Let me share some insights about importing time activities.

In QuickBooks Online, you can only import the following data:

  • Bank Data.
  • Customers and Vendors Information.
  • Chart of Accounts.
  • Products and Services.
  • Invoices.

You can find these options by going to the Gear > Import Data. While importing timesheets form a third-party application is currently unavailable, you can use a third-party importer tool app.

Here's how you can search for app:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Apps on the left panel.
  3. Type a keyword or click the Browse category drop-down menu.
  4. Select Sync Data and you'll find all the importer apps that can be integrated in your QuickBooks Online account.
  5. Click the app to see the key benefits and hit the Get app now and follow the instructions to connect.

Furthermore, you can contact the app's support to learn more about the import process.

I'm adding this article for reference: Install and use apps.

In case you need help with other task in QuickBooks Online, you can visit our general help topics page. Just type your concern in the search field and this page will route you to the related help articles, Community discussions, video tutorials and more.

Let me help you from here, ePNSecure.

In addition to what RenjolynC shared, you can explore our App store. You can check for third-party apps that will help you import the timesheets.

Then, if you already found the right app, you can install or sync it to QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

  1. Click Apps.
  2. Enter the app's name in the Search by name or category field.
  3. Click Get app now.

If you have more questions, you're always welcome to drop a comment in this thread. We'll reply as soon as we can. Keep safe!
