Hey there, @skaczmarek.

Welcome to the Community! I'm happy to help out here. The error, "Problem adding new data to QB - Inconsistent data in downloaded transactions." can be caused by a few things:

  • Invalid security certificate.
  • Sending in multi-user mode.
  • A network time-out prevents QuickBooks Desktop from accessing the server.
  • General Internet connection issues.
  • Internet security and personal firewall software settings.
  • Incorrect system date and time properties.

What I recommend is checking out our article on troubleshooting payroll errors and one of the solutions will resolve your issue.

If you still run into any issues or just have other questions, feel free to let me know by using the Reply button below. I'll be here for you.

Hi there,

Did you ever get this issue figured out? We are hitting it today as well.

Thank you!

@skaczmarekI don't suppose you figured out a solution to this issue? I'm having the same issue today and none of the standard troubleshooting articles are helping. I thought I would ask before I jump on a 2 hour phone call with Intuit...

I appreciate the steps you've performed when trying to fix the issue you're getting, @wendylacroix.

Since the solution provided doesn't work on your end, we can proceed by updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. Once completed, restart your computer, and download the latest payroll tax table update.

To update QuickBooks manually:

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Search for QuickBooks Desktop. Right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  4. While on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. Go to the Options tab. Select Mark All and then select Save.
  6. Go to the Update Now tab and select the Reset Update checkbox.
  7. When you're ready, select Get Updates.

When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. To install the updates, select Yes. Then, restart your computer.

To update your payroll tax table, tap Get Payroll Updates from the Employees tab. Then, select the Download Entire Update radio button and tap Update.

Once everything is back in place, open this link for more information about sending payroll and direct deposit paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll

As always, read our help articles as your reference while working with QuickBooks in the future.

If there's anything else you need help with, let me know by adding a comment. I'm always here for you. Have a good one!

I've done all of these things. I had an expert on chat and he told me to wait for a phone call. No help. I have submitted two requests for phone calls and no one has called yet. Our payroll is on a deadline. Need some assistance asap.

This error is still under investigation by engineering however the work around is calling in or requesting a call for help. There is a verification problem related to modifying Direct Deposit information (adding / changing). Customer Support can request engineering to put a stop on erroneous error so you can push payroll through, all while you're on hold. I ran into this issue today, I modified an hourly employees direct deposit on 08/18/20 and am now attempting to run payroll today for our semi monthly salaried employees - Error Problem adding new data to QB. Inconsistent data in downloaded employees.  **Its an ongoing issue but my immediate problem was resolved in about 15 minutes**

What number do you call for help? The number I have says no one available and directs me to HELP section of Quickbooks. I am having this error too - changed an employee's direct deposit info and now I cant submit payroll.

Hello there, Eleanor24,

The error you're getting needs our phone support's intervention so they can provide your information to our product engineers.

Should you want to connect to a QuickBooks support go to the Help menu on your navigation or press F1 key to access support options. If you're unable to reach us there, try this webpage intuit.me/qbdt. You can send us a message so we can assist you from there. This is the safest way to connect to our support agents.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can be of help.

Trying to send payroll now and getting the error Problem adding new data to QuickBooks. Inconsistent data in downloaded employees. The same error occurred last payroll and was only resolved by a QB tech on THEIR END - nothing was done to my QB file. After the interaction with the tech, I sent payroll without issue. Now it's happening again. I've been waiting in a chat for a tech to join for over 30 minutes. I have to send payroll today!! Is this going to occur every payroll going forward??

Hi there, @jgarbarini.

I can see the urgency of being able to send your payroll today. I've got some information to share regarding the error that you received when processing payroll in QuickBooks Desktop.

We currently have an ongoing issue wherein customers receive error messages after changing an employee bank. Our engineers are now working to identify the root cause of this matter and apply a fix.

For now, I'd encourage you to reach out to our Customer Care Team again. This way, you'll be added to the list of affected users and receive notifications once any updates about this matter are made available.

For your future reference, you can always check these links attached to guide you in changing payroll bank accounts for direct deposit in QuickBooks Desktop:

Your patience and understanding in this situation are much appreciated.

Know that I'll be right here to help if you have any other questions on this or with QuickBooks. I'd be happy to help. Have a great day!

For anyone wanting to know about the fix to this problem, here is what I have learned.

(I am a user and do not represent Intui/Quickbooks but just went through this today)

1. This is occurs (inconsistently) when there is a change to employee Bank Account information.

2. This is a known issue that occurs intermittently and QB hasn't been able to isolate the problem which means they aren't able to provide a permanent fix.

3. There is no way to fix this on your own. You must call QB Payroll Support.

Payroll tech support will access your account and sync the account information. You will then be able to send payroll.

Thanks MelissaSF.  I just contacted support and they fixed the problem (from there end) in less than a minute.

Not surprisingly, this is still an issue.  I followed all of the recommendations here to Rebuild and Verify the data file, to run QB as Administrator, to refresh the QB updates, to refresh the payroll updates, to backup the data files, to reboot the computer, etc.  None of that fixed the problem.

In the end, I used the Help screen to Contact QB, and gave them this article, and specifically the INV-46520 reference.  The problem was fixed by Chat in 15 mins or less.

I hope my post saves you some time.

My issue is I'm not putting in the correct passcode apparently. I have gone in and changed the passcode per the instructions on another page but still not able to send the direct deposit info in.

I appreciate you for joining this thread, sherwood. I'll share some insight on how to fix the issue so you can send your direct deposit data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) payroll.

To sort this out, I recommend updating your tax table to the latest release so you'll always have the latest features and fixes if you haven't already. But beforehand, please make sure that your QBDT is up-to-date. In case you don't have the latest payroll update, you can follow these steps to update it:

  1. Go to the Employees menu. Then, click Get Payroll Updates.
  2. Select the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  3. Tap Update, and then a window appears when the download is complete.

Then, please also check if you have the correct payroll service key and if the status is active. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Scroll down and hover your mouse on My Payroll Service
  3. Select Manage Service Key

If you have an active payroll service key and the issue continues, you can run the Verify and Rebuild Data tools if you haven't done it. We can perform this to verify and resolve the most commonly known data issues within your company file.

However, if the issue persists, I suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team since the Community is a public forum, and we'll need to collect some personal information to pull up your account. They'll be able to pull up your account securely and perform a screen-sharing session to investigate this behavior further and pinpoint its root cause.

Please don't hesitate to reply to this thread if you have other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'm just around to help. Keep safe!

I have been trying to transmit payroll and get an error message - "problem The PIN has been entered incorrectly too many times.

I have waited the 15 minutes to transmit again and continue to receive the same error message.

Thank you,

We have Quickbooks Enterprise, I went on help and chose contact us option for them to call me back, I did not have to do anything - they fixed this issue on their end.
