Question

In setting up the new Colorado Paid Family Medical Leave in QBO, how do I enter the contribution rates for employer to pay the full .45% and employee pay none? (<9 ee's)

The way it's set up in QBO, seems to be incorrect

Hello there, deannecooper.

Our QuickBooks Online Payroll Team is still working on adding the deduction to the payroll. Hence, I'm unable to provide updates about the support in tax payments and filings for the Colorado Paid Family Medical Leave Program.

You may want to keep an eye on this link to see what's coming: Payroll updates. It contains information on new taxes, state rate issues, and more.

I need to do payroll.  When will the set-up be complete? In our situation, the employer is going to pay the 0.45% and employee will have none deducted.  Will QBO have instructions on how to retroactively fix the accrual since we'll have to run payroll before the set-up is complete? Thank you.

Hi there, deannecooper!

We've already updated our Payroll system, and you should be able to set up the Colorado Paid Family Medical Leave before doing your payroll now. This includes an option to let you (the employer) pay the contribution instead of deducting it from your employee. It's okay if you do payroll first and set up the item later. We’ll automatically catch you up when you run your next payroll.

Here's the article for your reference: Set up Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI). Expand the QuickBooks Online Payroll section to see the steps.
