Is there a reason QBO would withhold FIT on my first payroll, but not on subsequent payrolls? All settings are correct. Pay hasn't changed. How do I fix this?

There are several reasons why federal taxes aren't withheld from your employees' paychecks. They do not meet the taxable wage base, the employee's preferences were set to Exempt or Do Not Withhold, and there may be browser issues.

You stated that all of the settings are correct. For the time being, the only explanation I can think of is that you may have encountered a browser issue since QuickBooks calculates employees' federal taxes accordingly. I'll some troubleshooting steps to fix this.

Let's begin by accessing your QBO account in an incognito or private window. You can use the following shortcut keys below:

• Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
• Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
• Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

Return to your main browser and clear the cache if it's displayed correctly. Except for Internet Explorer, you can use other supported browsers as an alternative.

If the issue persist even if all required information is correct, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support. They can pull up your account and submit a ticket for investigation.

1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right-hand corner of your QBO account.
2. Type in "Talk to a human" in the chatbox, then press Enter.
3. Select Get help from a human.
4. Choose either Chat with us or Have us call you.
