Hi there, Kim. I'd be glad to share some information about moving direct payroll payments from one account to another in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Are you referring to payroll liability payments or payroll for employees? If so, then the option to move paychecks directly to another bank account is unavailable. As a workaround, enter the payroll checks manually as journal entries so you can use them to reconcile the account.

Here's how:

  1. Click + New on the left panel.
  2. Select Journal Entry.
  3. Under the Journal date, enter the paycheck date.

You can either combine all of the employees' paycheck totals into one journal entry or create a separate transaction for each employee. To make sure the amounts are accurate, you can run a payroll report (Payroll Summary, Payroll Summary by Employee, or Payroll Details) for reference.

For more details about how to enter the debits and credits for wages and taxes, as well as a sample paycheck, see this article: Manually enter payroll paychecks in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, I recommend consulting an accountant on what specific accounts in recording the transactions to ensure the accuracy of your books.

I've added this article where you can learn some tips in managing your payroll: Employees and payroll taxes.

If you have other payroll concerns, you can always post them here in the Community. I'd be glad to help at any time. Take care!
