Question

It's acting like I'm running a business. I only want to do personal taxs as a W2 type employee. How do I change these settings?

I don't run a business.  I'm a W2 employee. I need Quickbooks to reflect this.

Hello, Cox. I'm here to make sure you select the right QuickBooks version for your needs.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) is an accounting software designed for small businesses. Since you want a product for personal taxes, our QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) may be more suitable for you. To learn the basics of QBSE, please see this article: Overview of QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You can also refer to this page to compare the features of QBSE and QBO: QuickBooks Products.

If you want to make a switch from QBO to QBSE, ensure to cancel QBO first before signing up for QBSE.

Also, whenever you're ready to track and organize your income and expenses with QBO, you can check out this article to guide you: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please fill me in if you have other QuickBooks-related concerns or questions about your company settings. I'll get back to help and make sure you're taken care of.
