I understand from the Blog that Quickbooks Online Payroll will be updated for Kentucky SCUF.

Will Quickbooks Desktop Payroll also be updated? If so, when?

If not what is the work around? a new payroll item?

That's a great question, @lauriec27. I've got some information you need in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

There are some updates in QBDT Payroll which includes:

Kentucky

  • The wage limit for state unemployment insurance (UI) increased to $11,100.
  • New withholding tables effective 1/1/2023.
  • Form K-5, Employer's Report of Withholding Tax Statements. (has been updated based on the current version).

You can also read more about the latest payroll news and updates in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll

We're unable to provide exact information if Kentucky SCUF will be updated in QBDT Payroll. However, you're right about the workaround in creating a new payroll item. You'll just need to edit the item rate

I'm also adding this resource that you can use for guidance if you want your employees to view their paychecks online: Invite your employees to QuickBooks Workforce to see pay stubs and W-2s if you use QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.
