Does anyone know how to remove addresses from your list of work locations in quickbooks online payroll advanced? I have tried everything and I cannot modify the list. I cannot stand the phone support and my list is long so I would love to avoid sitting on the phone with someone to do something we should be able to do ourselves in settings somewhere

Thanks for checking in with us, chelseak19.

To remove the addresses from your list of work locations, we can inactivate the work location in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Click Payroll Settings.
  3. Under Company and Account, click Work Locations.
  4. Select Work Locations.

  5. Mark the Inactive checkbox.

  6. Tap Save.

To learn more about assigning a new work location, see the Set up and assign a new work location article. Also, I'm adding our Tax forms page for more insights about and managing your tax forms in QuickBooks. Feel free to visit our Payroll page for more insight about managing your payroll transactions in QuickBooks.

Please update us on the result after trying the steps as I'd like to ensure this is resolved for you. Just leave a comment below and I'll be back with you. You have a good one.

There is no company and account section under payroll settings.

Hey there, @chelseak19

Thanks for following up with us.

The steps may be different for you if you're using a different payroll subscription. The steps provided by my colleague are for QuickBooks Online Payroll Enhanced. If you take a look at Set up and assign a new work location and look for your payroll subscription, you can find the steps for you.

If you're not sure which payroll subscription you're currently using, I recommend taking a look at Which payroll service do I have? This way, you'll know for sure which service you're using.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. Take care!

I'm running Online Payroll Core and had the same issue after we moved our office this past June.  Despite updating the new work address everywhere, the old address kept appearing on paystubs.  I spent a lot of time trying to figure this out and could not.  After reading this thread, I decided to throw in the towel and call customer service.

I have never called before, and expected the worst.  I started in the online help section of QB and typed my issue and then typed call me.  It made some suggestions and then prompted me if I still needed a human.  I said yes and it confirmed my number and said they would call me.  I got a call about 5 minutes later from caller ID "Intuit Inc" and a rep on the phone verified my info and then the problem.  After about 10 minutes she confirmed the old and new addresses and said the problem was corrected.  After we hung up I ran a new payroll and indeed the new office address was on the paystub.

My thoughts:  It is a glaring problem in Core that needs to be fixed so that users can correct the problem themselves.  QB employees posting instructions that cannot be used in Core is also a huge problem, don't post instructions until you ask the version being used.  It sounds like I may have got lucky on the call center, but it was literally a very simple call and fix.

With end of year approaching, my big concern was the old employer address populating tax documents, so this needed to be dealt with.  Use the call me feature so you don't have to wait on hold.  Good luck to others.

Sadly, I called and after spending a long time on the phone customer service was NOT able to fix it and seemed befuddled as to why. This a VERY obvious use case. That now after A YEAR  the problem is still a problem, and cannot be solved reliably even on the phone, is mind boggling.

This issue creates potential legal issues, by generating pay stubs with "false" address (since QB will not let me change it and customer service staff cannot change it for me). The paystub address does not match W-2 address or company actual physical address. So, employees cannot truthfully provide correct company address and have it match paystubs; cannot give last year's W-2 and current pay stub.  Can an employee sue my company if they are denied, for example, a mortgage because the paystub has this "fake" address and does not match company records or government tax records? TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

It's not important to Intuit.

The problem is not fixed even in 2023.

Fixing this issue does not make them more money, so they aren't going to bother.

I worked there, and this is the official attitude of management.
