There are some possible reasons why mileage tracking suddenly stops. To start, let's make sure that you turned on the auto-tracking in your mobile app. I’ll show you how:
On iOS (iPhone and ipad):
Open the QuickBooks mobile app.
Go to the Mileage menu.
Select Auto-tracking to turn it on. If you're setting up tracking for the first time, select Allow and then Allow all the time. This let's the app run on your device in the background.
On an Android phone or tablet:
Open the QuickBooks mobile app.
Select the menu ☰ icon.
Go to the Mileage menu.
Select Auto-tracking to turn it on. If you're setting up tracking for the first time, select Allow and then Allow all the time. This let's the app run on your device in the background.
Have you also tried checking the location settings on your phone? You’ll need to ensure you’ve allowed QuickBooks Online app to run in the background. Otherwise, it’ll only track trips when it's open and active on your screen.
Here’s how to review your device's location settings on iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Go to your iPhone or iPad's Settings.
Scroll down and select the QuickBooks app.
Select Location. Then select Always.
Turn on the Motion & Fitness, Background App Refresh, and Cellular Data options.
Close your settings.
If you see a message about background location use, select Always Allow. Note: Don’t select the While Using the App, or Only While Using options. These prevent the app from tracking your mileage consistently.
For Android devices, we recommend using Google’s steps since the operating system varies. You’ll also need to disconnect your hotspot while driving as this can also affect the recording.
