Hello,  My client issued DD for paycheck whereas forgot to create a paycheck for last year  I noticed while doing books as Bank reconciliation was off for last year. Can i create a unsechuled paycheck payable with check in this year with same pay period as shown in the last year whereas as the paydate will be for this year.  Then i can reconcile check register with that amount in this year.

Thank you for turning to the Community about your concern, HI73.

When reconciling an account, you'll have to match all your cash flows on your bank statement with your entries in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You shouldn't make a check with this year's paycheck date because the actual check was given last year (to match the one issued the previous year).

To rectify the issue, we'll need to create a journal entry to reflect last year's transaction. I also suggest consulting your accountant to determine the debit and credit accounts to use.

When you have the complete details, let's go ahead and track the entry. Here's how:

  1. In your company, tap New and select Journal entry.
  2. On the first line, choose the category from the Account field and enter the amount in the correct column.
  3. On the next line, select the other account you're moving money to or from, and then input the paycheck amount in the correct field.
  4. From there, review the figures, which should have the same amount in the Credit column on one line and the Debit column on the other.
  5. Press Save and new or Save and close button.
