My SUI rate is 0.15% for 2023, but QBO isn't letting me enter this rate. How do I get around this. It's allowing 0.9-6.2% only.

QBO allowed me to enter 0.25% for 2022, but it isn't letting me enter 0.15% for 2023.

I understand your concern, @LAC1. I'll provide some information about why you're unable to enter the 0.15% State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rate in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you don't have the option to enter your 0.15% SUI rate it may be because QuickBooks hasn't received an updated SUI rate from your state. Basically, states will send out updated SUI rate notices toward the end of the year or at the beginning of the year. That said, we'll need to wait for the update.

Moreover, may I know the name of the state of your SUI? That way, we can check and share more information about it. Also, you may verify with your state regarding the current SUI rate that you should use to keep the accuracy of your SUI tax liability.

I've also added this article for general tax questions based on your state: Access state agency websites for payroll.

Once you've got your new SUI rate verified and ready to update, you can visit this article: Update your State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rate.

Please don't hesitate to hit that Reply button if you have additional questions regarding your state taxes. Have a great day ahead.

I appreciate your prompt response and thank you for sharing additional info, @LAC1.

I recognize the urgency of this matter and the need to enter up-to-date SUI rates into QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'm here to drop some details about this topic.

Since we didn't receive notice from your state, we will need to wait until the states send an update regarding the new SUI rate to QuickBooks for the time being. Once received, the QuickBooks team will make this rate obtainable.

Furthermore, see this article on updating your payroll once you have your new SUI rate: Update your SUI rate.

Additionally, workers comp insurance protects you in case one of your employees is on accident. Visit this page to understand worker's compensation insurance.

I'll be around the corner if you still need assistance managing your payroll tasks. We care for you. Have a great day.

January 6, 2024 - I am having the same problem in Arizona. Our UI Tax rate for 2024 is .05%. QB Online Payroll will not let me enter anything below .07%.

Welcome to the Community, @2X2.

Let me help and provide information about the State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To start, QBO will automatically update the SUI rate. If you receive a tax notice from your state, you can update or send a payroll notice.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. Next to the state you want to update, select Edit.
  3. In the State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) Setup section, select Change or add a new rate.
  4. Enter your new rate and its effective date.
  5. Select or enter any updated surcharge or assessment rates.
  6. Select OK.

If you can't change the current year's rate, send your notice to us. We’ll update the rate for you.

However, if same issue, I suggest contacting support for further help.

I'll add this article to guide you about how to set up or enroll in E-File & E-Pay to electronically file and pay your payroll taxes in QuickBooks Online Payroll: Set up e-file and e-pay in QBO Payroll.

Please feel free to comment below, if you have further questions about SUI or other QBO-related concerns. I'll be here to assist you.
