Need resolution: Direct deposit payroll and tax payments not recognized in QBO anymore. Manually adding creates double payroll accounting. Advice on how to fix?

Thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community. I'm here to help you match transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Once you connect a bank account to QuickBooks, transactions are downloaded automatically to the For Review tab. The system tries to match them with your existing transactions if the details are the same.

If QuickBooks is unable to find a match, you'll need to do it manually. The Match option links downloaded transactions with the one you already entered.

Double entries will only happen if you use Add instead of Match in Banking. To match correctly, you can follow these steps:

1. Find a downloaded transaction with the Match option in the Action column.
2. Note the Date, Description, Payee, and amount spent or received.
3. Select the downloaded transaction to expand the view.
4. Review the Matching records found in QuickBooks. This is the possible matching transaction you already entered in QuickBooks.
5. Select the link next to each match to get more details.
6. Make sure this is the correct match. In particular, review the Deposit to, Payment method, and Bank account fields on forms for the existing transaction in QuickBooks.
7. If this is the correct match, close the open transaction.
8. Select Match.
