Question

NJ 927 and W30

Hello,

I used QB to file quarterly NJ 927s and W30s and I received confirms that the reports were successfully accepted by the tax agency.  I have a QB tracking number as well.  However, NJ never received the 927s and W30s and NJ has no record of filings for the quarters with which I have a QB confirm that they were accepted.  An auditor for New Jersey is asking for further proof that the reports were electronically filed.  What can I get from QB to show the auditor?  Does QB have any confirm numbers from New Jersey that I can see?

Thanks for your help.

It's good to see you here in the Community, @mattmert.

QuickBooks can only e-filed payroll taxes. Thus, getting the confirmation number from the tax agency isn't possible. However, you can check the status of your e-filed payroll taxes to confirm if it was already accepted. To do so, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Go to the Taxes menu, then click Payroll Tax.
  3. Click Filings.
  4. Select Go to archived forms. From there, you'll see the statuses of your e-filed taxes.
  • Not Transmitted: You have submitted the form. But our service has not yet transmitted it to the receiving agency.
  • Transmitted: We have transmitted the form to the receiving agency. But the receiving agency has not processed the form yet. The IRS generally processes forms within a few weeks. State agencies can take anywhere from a few days to months.
  • Accepted: The receiving agency has received and accepted the form.
  • Rejected: The receiving agency has received and rejected the form. Review the rejection letter emailed to you for the specific reason.

If the status was already accepted in QBO but hasn't been received by your tax agency, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can review your account in a secure environment and verify the e-file taxes.
