I have a Canadian Resident working in the US-how do i enter his address using enhanced payroll for QB Enterprise

Let me share information about adding employees living in different states.

 

With QuickBooks Payroll Enhanced, you can set up employees who are not U.S. citizens, which you need to enter where they live and work. Please note that these employees might be exempted from specific taxes.

 

In this case, identify which payroll taxes they are exempt from. They should fill out I-9 forms and give you a copy of their visa and a valid Social Security number. Employees with Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) can't be on the payroll.

 

You can review the IRS Publication 515, contact your state agencies for state tax exemptions, and contact a tax professional for assistance in determining which payroll taxes they are exempt from.

 

After that, proceed to these steps to set up your employee, enter their addresses, and exempt them from payroll taxes:

 

  1. Select Employees, then New Employee.
  2. Fill in the details in each section.
  3. From the Payroll Info tab, pick Taxes
  4. Fill in the Federal W-4 info from the Federal tab. Pick Exempt from the Filling Status dropdown if exempted.
  5. Uncheck the taxes your employee is exempt from the Subject To section.
  6. Head to the State tab.
  7. Select the State Lived and State Worked
  8. For State Unemployment Insurance (SUI), uncheck the SUI box if exempted.
  9. Choose Exempt from the Filing Status dropdown if your employee is exempted from State Withholding.
  10. Pick the Other tab, highlight the tax, and select Delete if exempt from any additional taxes listed.
  11. Select Ok once done.

I have a very similar issue.  We hired some employees from Jamica that worked with us thru a work study program and quickbooks desktop will not let me enter their current address they live at?
