On my EFTPS I made a federal Estimated payment for 2022. However when I input the data into quickbooks, it seems to have registered it as a 2021 payment

I have it on my EFTPS record that it's 2022. I think the reason why quickbooks put it in the wrong year is likely because I made the payment on January 3rd.

You're correct. The EFTPS will record the transactions by cash basis. This means, the system will record the item as to when it was paid.
