I am unable to file. I get an error message that says I cannot do so until I enter W2 codes for local taxes. They have been entered, so how do I proceed?  Also - is there a secret to actual help from a QuickBooks employee?? I have spent an inordinate amount of time, that I can ill afford, trying to find a chat or phone number to call!

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, ahipchen.

After paying your taxes electronically, you'll be able to e-file forms through QuickBooks Payroll.

Here's how:

  1. Confirm you've paid all taxes related to the form you want to file.
  2. Go to Taxes, then Payroll tax.
  3. Click Filings.
  4. You'll see your forms to file under Action Needed. Forms due later will show in the Coming Up section. You can hit Filter to find your specific form.
  5. Click File on a form you want to file.
  6. Make sure the File Electronically option is turned on.
  7. Select Submit.

If you continue seeing a notice to enter W2 codes while trying to file forms, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

I've also included a detailed resource about filing forms which may come in handy moving forward: Pay & file payroll taxes/forms electronically

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a great Monday!

I appreciate the speedy reply. I do know how to file taxes, so that wasn't the issue. The error code was. I did finally get to speak to a customer service agent and it was some sort of glitch that they needed to clear out.
