Pay Period Locked Before Scheduled Run

Hello,

I am trying to approve vacation and sick time for this current month, and every time I try to approve it, it tells me that the pay period is locked. That does not make any sense. I have not run my payroll for the month. How do I fix this issue? I can't find any button to unlock it.

The message you see when approving your employee's time off is due to the fact that you have already run payroll for that period, MissMia95. I'm happy to provide you with more details below.

If you notice that the dates are grayed out, it means you can no longer add vacation or sick time for those specific dates. Unfortunately, once payroll is processed for a pay period, adjustments to vacation approvals for that period may not be possible.

However, if you have created your employee's time off and exported it to QuickBooks Time, you have the option to unlock exported time there.

Here's how:

  1. Go to QuickBooks Time.
  2. From the QuickBooks Payroll dropdown, select Unlock Exported Time.
  3. Enter the pay period you've added in QBO and select Unlock Timesheet.
