How do you record a paycheck dated on Nov 2021 (already on W2), but the check cash out end of Jan 2022? because when I do bank reconciliation it does not match.

Thank you,

Hi there. christibea.

I know a way how to record that. You can enter the paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop by running an unscheduled payroll. Then, you'll have to perform a special reconciliation to make a correction and keep your account balance accurate. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Pay Employees, then choose Unscheduled Payroll.
  3. Enter the period ends date, check Date, and bank account.
  4. Select the employees you want to pay, then enter hours using the grid or select Open Paycheck Detail to see everyone's paycheck details.
  5. Click Save & Next to go to the next employee or Save & Close to go back to the Enter Payroll Information window.
  6. Hit Continue, then select Create Paychecks.
  7. Perform a mini reconciliation.

Lastly, here's an article that will help you track your payroll transactions in QBDT: Customize payroll and employee reports.

I'll be right here if you additional assistance in accomplishing your other tasks. Have a great day ahead.
