Question

Paycheck was deposited into my business account instead of my personal

My client ran payroll through ADP and put the business checking account down instead of the personal account for her paycheck to be directly deposited. I'm showing in QB both transactions the money coming out to pay for the payroll and taxes and the deposit of her paycheck. What is the easiest way to correct this in her books?

Hello there. @2 Chicks Accounting.

I recognize the importance of correcting your client's book, and I'm here to share some information that can help resolve this. Since they've run their payroll through ADP, we can utilize journal entries to resolve this issue. Journal entries are a way to adjust and correct any errors that may have occurred in the accounting records.

Here's how:

  1. Go to + New.
  2. Under OTHER, select Journal entry.
  3. Add the necessary details.
  4. Hit save and close.

For more details about entering debits and credits for wages and taxes, please check the following article: Manually enter payroll paychecks in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, to correct any payroll-related issues, I highly recommend that you contact the ADP support team and request a payroll reversal.

I've also attached some articles about tips and guides to reconcile an account:
