I processed last week's payroll & printed everything needed. I can't run payroll for this week's pay date. How do I get QBO to let me run this week's pay?

Intuit recommends using pay schedules to make running your payroll more efficient. If you haven't already, be sure to set up and add a payroll schedule for employees:

  1. In the left navigation bar, go to Payroll, then Employees.
  2. Choose an employee.
  3. From your Employment details section, click Start or Edit.
  4. Use the Pay schedule ▼ drop-down list to pick a pay schedule your employee moving forward. You can also create a new one if necessary.
  5. Enter the appropriate information.
  6. Select Save, then Save.

Next, you'll need to create the direct deposit or paper paychecks and send them to Intuit for processing. If you've set up a payroll schedule, you can create a scheduled or unscheduled payroll:

  • Scheduled payroll - Paychecks you give your employees regularly. You can also add bonuses or other pay to these paychecks.
  • Unscheduled payroll - You may need to pay your employees bonuses, commissions, a final paycheck, or report fringe benefits outside your regular payroll schedule.

When you're prepared, you can create and send the payroll.

If you're having troubles running your payroll, I'd initially recommend troubleshooting the browser you're using and confirming you meet each system requirement for QuickBooks. In the event you continue encountering issues with running payroll after troubleshooting, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Monday!
