I processed payroll for an hourly employee who has direct deposit.  It is normal to see the work check on payroll reports after processing payroll for this employee?  Will his check be direct deposited?  Looking for confirmation.

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, bcseamless.

If you've paid an employee with direct deposit, they should be receiving their funds based on the direct deposit lead time you're working with. To check this, you'll need to determine what your lead time is. It can be set as Same-day or Next-day. In some instances, you might be on a 5-day timeframe.

Here's how to check what you're currently using:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Payroll settings.
  2. Access your Direct deposit section. You'll see your funding times above the current direct deposit limits.

You can temporarily change your funding times to a 5-day timeframe if you need to process a deposit that's higher than your account limits. Direct deposit limits don't apply, but you'll need to send payroll in advance of the paycheck date. I'd recommend referring to our When to send your direct deposit payroll article for detailed information on the process.

Next, determine when to submit or approve payroll. You'll want to be aware that direct deposits are only processed on banking days.

Keep in mind:

When you're prepared to pay employees, be sure you have funds in your account to cover the payroll on the day it's submitted. Also be aware that Intuit won't process payroll on weekends or state/federal holidays.

If you're still unsure or have questions about the status of a direct deposit run, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Monday!
