You'll see a tax penalty message when the system won't allow you to enter a backdated check. The most possible reason is that you paid and file the taxes already.
What I can suggest is to reach out to our Payroll Support Team so they can make an adjustment and enter the backdated check.
Click the (?) Help icon and enter Talk to a human (then type it again when prompted).
When asked by the bot, enter "Process backdated check".
Select I still need a human, then proceed with Contact us or Get help from a human.
Choose either Chat or Callback.
