Hi there, ZEP12.

Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details on how the payroll account works in QuickBooks Online. Then, ensure that you'll be able to correct and inactive the said account.

When your Payroll service is set up, the QuickBooks system automatically creates default accounts so you can record your payroll liabilities and expenses. That said, it could be a new payroll account has been created and that's the reason why there are two of the same GL duplicate shows in your QuickBooks Online.

To correct the payroll account that has been used for deduction in employee contributions, I recommend going to the Payroll Settings. From there, you'll be able to see all the current payroll preferences.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings
  2. Click the pencil icon in the Accounting section.
  3. Go to the Wage expenses section. Then, change the account.
  4. Click Done to save the changes.

Once done, you'll be able to view the Update button. You'll have to click that said option so your entries will be updated and transferred to the new/correct account.

Then, you can open this article to view the detailed steps on how you can make an account inactive: Delete an account on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see several payroll reports so you can use them to view useful information about your business and employees: Run payroll reports.

Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other payroll questions. Have a good one.
