I have a weekly deduction for one of my employees and he owes $1600 but it will continue into next year so I would like to put maximum deduction for entire amount rather then annual amount? I was hoping I could just set it and not worry about it again.

I gave a $1600 pay advance and was taking a small amount of $ per paycheck.  I set the amount to stop under Max annual but it starts over at end of year and looking for it to continue into next year so have a max deduction until it is fulfilled $100% rather then starting over end of year

Thank you for providing more details about your concern, happy.

Currently, the option to add the maximum deduction for the entire amount for the total advance payment is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. As a workaround, you can enter a zero amount and keep track of the payment outside QBO.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll and then click the Employees tab.
  2. Select the employee's name.
  3. From the Deductions & contributions, click the Edit.
  4. Select the Pencil icon for your deduction.
  5. In the Annual maximum, you can enter zero amount.
  6. Click Save and Done.

Once the payment is done, you can remove this deduction to ensure it won't continue for the following year.
