Question

Payroll error - says "having trouble getting your next paydate right now"? Paydate is on Friday, banking holiday, and understand I need to run 24 hours before, but can't

We pay weekly on Friday's.  This Friday (11/11/22) is Veteran's Day.  Normally have payroll (QB Online Core) in on Thursdays by 5pm.  Understand we need to have this week in by Wednesday at 5pm, but QB won't allow us to run payroll due to the above error.

I understand the importance of getting your employees paid on time, @usercmurfiniii. I'll be glad to share some troubleshooting steps to help you run your payroll.

You're right, since your payday falls on a Friday holiday, you'll need to submit payroll one day earlier than usual. What you experienced right now may be caused by stored cookies and cache, that block you from running your payroll. In this case,  we can perform the basic troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. Here's how:

  1. Restart your browser.
  2. You may run your payroll in an incognito or private browser. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If it works, you can return to your regular browser and clear your browser's cache. Then you may see if it fixes the problem and gets started on the tasks at hand. However, if the incognito window didn't work, you can use another supported browser.

You may refer to this article for more details: Troubleshooting browser problems.

However, if the issue persists I'd suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Payroll Support Team. That way, they can investigate further about the issue.

I've also added this article for more details about how to make sure your employees get paid on time when there’s a holiday: How do federal holidays affect my direct deposit?

Furthermore, in case you'll want to run payroll reports in the future, you can check out this article: Run payroll reports. This includes all the lists of payroll reports available in QuickBooks Online.

Please don't hesitate to come back if you have clarification or additional information about your concern. I'm always here to help you. Stay safe!

We are on auto-payroll and received this message. Why would there be an issue with the next pay date as our pay dates do not change, 1st and 15th of each month. No holidays involved for our upcoming payroll.
