I hope you're doing fine, esccgraham.

I'll help you get this sorted out.

It's possible that the Social Security and Medicare box is checked under Tax exemptions. This is why FICA is not calculating on your employee's payroll.

Let's review the employee's set up by following these steps:

  1. Go to Payroll > Employees.
  2. Select the employee's name and click the pencil icon next to Pay.
  3. Scroll down to What are (Employee's name) withholdings? section and select the pencil icon.
  4. In the Add withholding window, scroll down to Tax exemptions.
  5. Review if the Social Security and Medicare box has a check mark. Un-check it if they're not exempted.
  6. Hit Save.

Here are some sample screenshots for a visual guide:

If payroll is already created for this employee, you'll want to delete and re-create it. This way, you have the correct calculation for their FICA.

In cases that paycheck has 0.00 or no income tax withheld, you can read this article for the solution: 0.00 or no income tax withheld from paycheck.

For any additional questions regarding the steps above or other payroll concerns, please let me know in your reply. I'm always around to help. Have a good day ahead.
