Payroll issue with date AND account

I just went to run my payroll this week for both employees and contractors.

Issue #1:

When I run for my employee, I get a message saying, "Either the 10000 Bank Clearing Account account, or its parent account, is an inappropriate account type. Please check the account types in your company's Chart of Accounts."

I have never had this issue.  I run payroll the same every week.  What changed? Did something get messed up with an update - that is usually my experience.

Issue #2

I am scheduling payments for my contractors to be withdrawn on Friday.  I do this every week on Monday.  Now I am not permitted to change the direct deposit date.  It is trying to force me to send the deposit the next day.  It will not allow me to schedule it for Friday.  ALSO have never had this problem before.

I need this fixed asap.

Hi there, MishelWolfe.

I'll make sure you'll be able to run payroll for your employees and vendors in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We can perform some basic troubleshooting steps to make sure the issue isn’t browser-related. It’s possible that local internet cache files are the reason for this unexpected behavior.

Let's start accessing your account using a different or private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once in, try to generate PO. If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process the next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.

Just in case, you'll want to know how you can pay your employees on time, visit this link: When do I need to submit payroll to pay employees on time?

I've added this article for future reference about running payroll reports in QuickBooks Online: Run payroll reports. This will help you identify what specific report you're going to use to keep track of your books about payroll.

Please know that I'm just a reply away if you need any further assistance running payroll. Wishing you all the best
