I have a running balance in payroll liabilities on my balance sheet.  Should this be cleared out once payments are made or it is just a running balance?

Thanks for dropping by here in the Community, @Miram2022. I'll gladly share some details about the balances in your payroll liabilities that appear in your balance sheet report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Since it's for tracking purposes only, know that the running balances in your payroll liabilities section inside your balance sheet report won't clear out even if you pay those liabilities. Also, if you click each section inside your payroll liability, you'll see the transaction that you've made. May it be paid or unpaid.

Additionally, here's an article to help you in case your payroll liabilities show incorrect figures in your balance sheet report: Payroll Liability and/or Balance Sheet Report shows incorrect amounts for payroll liabilities.

You can also visit this page to learn how you can control what you see in your reports in QBDT: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

It's been a pleasure assisting you today, @Miram2022. Please feel free to post here again if you have any confusion or QuickBooks-related concerns. We've got your back, and we'll answer them all. Take care, and have a nice day!
