payroll not processing if have certain limits

have a question.

As our payroll is getting bigger and bigger, sometime It won't process unless I have to delay some of the payroll to the next day. This may be due to the IRS tax limit of 100K per paycheck but I am not sure. Yesterday I ran the payroll and Fed taxes were around 120K. I got an error , then I delayed a couple of paychecks and it went fine.

Does anyone know why I have this issue and what I should do in future if I have the same problem. I do not want to delay people's payroll for one time. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm here to help ensure you can pay your employees seamlessly, sam i am 101.

Let's take a look at your direct deposit to see how much money you can send using this feature. Then, submit a request to raise the limit.

If you use the direct deposit feature, we limit the amount of money you can send for security reasons. When the amount is higher than usual, you will receive the following message: Your payment amounts are much larger than usual. If you still want to make these payments by direct deposit, request a direct deposit limit increase.

Please take note that direct deposit limits are set per payroll and per person. See the following information for QuickBooks Online Payroll:

  • Per payroll means the total amount of direct deposits for all your employees or contractors paid in a 6-day period (including weekends) from the date of payroll submission.
  • Per person means the direct deposit amount for one employee or contractor paid in a 6-day period (including weekends) from the date of payroll submission.

To determine your direct deposit limit:

  1. In your company, head to the Gear icon in the upper-right and choose Payroll settings.
  2. Go to the Direct deposit section to see the limit per payroll and per person.

Submit an online request to increase your direct deposit security limit to ensure that payroll runs smoothly. You may be required to submit documents such as bank statements. These links provide in-depth information about the process, as well as how the direct deposit function works and its limitations:

I've included a link to our Payroll Hub for future reference. It covers topics such as how to handle tax notices, process tax forms, and make payments, to name a few.

Drop a comment below if you require further information about the direct deposit feature and other product-related concerns. I'm always ready to assist further. Have a great day ahead.
