Hi,

Our 8/1/22 payroll ran with one employee's payment method listed as check, however, their payment method setting is direct deposit. How does this happen?

Let's find out why it happened, NFCSADMIN.

Our employee's payment method depends on how we set it up. Since it's suddenly listed as a check, we can use the Audit log feature to track if some other users of your QuickBooks Online account made the changes. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings and select Audit Log.
  2. Select Filter.
  3. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  4. Select Apply.

If figured out that this has been changed, it'll be the process for the current paycheck. Still, you can void and recreate to correct the payment method as direct deposit. You can use the articles below for references:

On the other hand, if there are no changes made, it could be a browser-related issue. We can follow the steps below to get this fixed.

Step 1: Use an incognito window:

Since this type of browser doesn't store cache, it's easier for us to identify if this is a browser issue. Follow these keyboard shortcuts to start an incognito session:

  • Google Chrome and Safari: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  •

Step 2: Delete cache and temporary internet files:

If it works, we can clear the browsing history of your regular web browser. This will remove previously-stored browsing data that might have caused the issue: Clear cache and cookies. Also, we can try using other supported browsers to be thorough.

To see more payroll reports, we can refer to this article: Run payroll reports. It includes how to customize and print payroll reports.
