I have the necessary steps for handling paychecks without tax calculations in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let's figure out why your payroll taxes aren't being calculated. There are numerous reasons why payroll taxes don't add up or don't add up right. Among these are:

• Before running payroll, the payroll tax table is not updated.
• The total salary for the year is more than the maximum salary.
• The employee's last paycheck's gross pay was too low.

Let's start with making sure your QuickBooks is in the latest version as well as your tax table.

For tax table update:

1. Go to Employees at the top.
2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
3. Tick the Download entire payroll update radio button.
4. Click Update.

After the tax table update, revert the paycheck. This will update the payroll data and fix how the taxes are calculated. Go as follows:

1. Go to the Employees menu and choose Payroll Center.
2. Select the Pay Employees tab and click Start Scheduled Payroll or Start Unscheduled Payroll.
3. Right-click the employee name and select Revert Paycheck.

If it's still not taking out any taxes, it's either the total annual salary exceeding the salary limit or the gross wages of the employee's payroll are too low. To check this, please run a Tax and wage summary report.
